LAKEPORT, Calif. – Sen. Mike McGuire's planned town hall for Thursday evening will discuss a variety of community matters as well as the Rocky fire.
McGuire will host the annual town hall from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Clear Lake High School MAC Building, 350 Lange St. in Lakeport.
He had announced the town hall late last month, with the goal of briefing his constituents on the issues he's been working on since taking office in December.
Since then, the Rocky fire broke out east of Lower Lake, and so McGuire – who was in town for a community meeting on Sunday – also will host officials who will give updates on the fire and the effort to contain it.
McGuire's office said he has invited the California Office of Emergency Services, Lake County Office of Emergency Services and Cal Fire to brief the community with the latest on the fire as well as provide information for moving forward – including steps for working through the claims process.
Also set to attend are Lakeport Mayor Martin Scheel, Board of Supervisors Chair Anthony Farrington, Sheriff Brian Martin, California Highway Patrol Clear Lake Area Commander Lt. Hector Paredes, Lake County Superintendent of Schools Brock Falkenberg and Caltrans District 1 Director Charlie Fielder.
