LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – A new advisory council has been formed for the residents of Scotts Valley.
On Tuesday, the Board of Supervisors voted to approve Supervisor Tina Scott's request to form the council.
Scott said the proposal for the council came out of a meeting she had with about 50 Scotts Valley residents on Feb. 12 to discuss that area's ongoing flooding problems.
“They're looking for resolution on how they can go about not being flooded every winter,” she said.
Scott said the council is intended to be a way for residents to come up with ideas and priorities as they look for solutions to the flooding.
The advisory council also will extend partly into Supervisor Jim Steele's district.
“It’s going to be informational for a long time,” Steele said of the council's work.
The board voted 4-0 to approve the council, with Supervisor Rob Brown absent for the discussion.
Scott reported that she's now looking for five members to appoint to the new council's governing board, which will consist of a chair, vice chair, secretary and two at-large members
Members of the governing board must be registered to vote in Lake County, and live within the geographic area of Scotts Valley.
