MIDDLETOWN, Calif. – The Middletown Area Town Hall this week will get an update from county officials on a proposed cannabis ordinance, and discuss the town hall’s goals and proposed bylaw revisions.
MATH will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 9, at the Middletown Community Center, 21256 Washington St.
Meetings are open to the community, and offer the opportunity for additional public input on items not included on the agenda.
At Thursday’s meeting, Lake County Sheriff Brian Martin and Community Development Director Bob Massarelli will update MATH members on the work to update the county’s rules for cannabis cultivation.
The Board of Supervisor will hold a second workshop on the draft cannabis ordinance on Tuesday afternoon. County officials said the updated rules are necessary in light of changes to state law as well as a desire to implement a permitting program.
In other business, there will be discussion of MATH goals for 2017, bylaw revisions and the proposal for MATH to nominate a “person of the year”; an update on the update on Trailside Park and Middletown Bocce League; a request for the chairman or designee to attend pre-application meeting for Roger Miller Retreat and Farming; and committee reports.
The MATH Board includes Chair Claude Brown, Vice Chair Linda Diehl-Darms, Secretary Fletcher Thornton, and members Lisa Kaplan and Gregg Van Oss.
MATH – established by resolution of the Lake County Board of Supervisors on Dec. 12, 2006 – is a municipal advisory council serving the residents of Anderson Springs, Cobb, Coyote Valley (including Hidden Valley Lake), Long Valley and Middletown.
Meetings are subject to videotaping.
