LAKEPORT, Calif. – On Wednesday the Lakeport Police Department arrested a Sonoma County man wanted for a warrant and vehicle theft, and recovered the car he allegedly had taken.
Christian Alejandro Estrella, 19, of Santa Rosa was arrested on Wednesday afternoon, according to Lakeport Police Chief Brad Rasmussen.
At 1:30 p.m. Wednesday the Lakeport Police Department was contacted by the Santa Rosa Police Department, which requested that they attempt to locate Estrella, Rasmussen said.
He said Santa Rosa Police officials believed Estrella may have been in possession of a 2002 blue BMW 325I stolen from the city of Novato.
Acting on information provided by the Santa Rosa Police Department, Lakeport Police officers located the stolen BMW parked in a fenced and gated driveway in the 100 block of S. Polk Street in Lakeport, Rasmussen said.
Rasmussen said officers approached the residence to investigate and located a male subject – identified as Estrella – walking out the front door.
Police arrested Estrella on a felony no bail warrant charging him with violation of probation, domestic violence, dissuading a victim or witness, carrying a loaded firearm in public and vehicle theft, Rasmussen said.
In addition, Rasmussen said Estrella was charged with violating a court order to prevent domestic violence due to the fact that the 19-year-old Santa Rosa woman protected in the order was located in the residence where Estrella was arrested.
The BMW was recovered and stored pending return to the victim in Novato, Rasmussen said.
