KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – This year marks an important milestone for one of Lake County's favorite festivals, and community members and businesses are invited to take part as sponsors.
Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, marks the 20th anniversary of the Kelseyville Pear Festival.
Starting 20 years ago with only a few booths along Main Street, the festival celebrated the heritage of the community and the premium fruit grown in Lake County.
Since then, the festival has become so popular that it fills Kelseyville's downtown with thousands of visitors who come to enjoy a jam-packed day of fun.
The day starts with a spectacular country-style parade. Tractor and antique car displays, art exhibits, music, food, entertainment, a free quilt show and a special area just for children fill the fun family day.
New this year, the Lake County Horse Council will present “Renaissance of the Horse,” which will exhibit and demonstrate a multitude of horse breeds and disciplines.
Festivities begin on Friday night, Sept. 28, with a barbecue dinner under the stars.
The lively Konocti Fiddlers and legendary Dave Stamey, cowboy singer, top off the evening.
The event is held in the Courtyard of Wildhurst Tasting Room on Main Street, Kelseyville.
The Kelseyville Pear Festival has been heralded as one of the premier events in Lake County.
