Lake County Farm Bureau announces 2014 scholarship recipients

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – The Lake County Farm Bureau (LCFB) Scholarship Committee is proud to announce the 2014 scholarship recipients.

The LCFB Scholarship Committee reviewed numerous applications and chose three local students who best met the eligibility requirements.

The scholarship program was organized to give financial aid to Lake County residents who show a desire to pursue a career in the agricultural industry.

The scholarships are awarded annually and are based upon academic achievement, career goals, extracurricular activities, determination, leadership skills, and a commitment to study agriculture.
 
From Upper Lake High School, Ian Seevers will be awarded a scholarship from LCFB. Seevers plans to attend UC San Diego and is the son of Lloyd and Bonnie Seevers.

Home schooled for the first six years, he eventually attended public school where he exceeded in football and scholastics. Seevers has been an active member of the Blue Heron 4-H Club, where he currently serves as Club President.

Graduating as class valedictorian, Seevers also has participated on the Academic Decathlon Team, Chess Club, State Robotics Team and Student Council. Seevers plans to study mechanical engineering in college.
 
Lindee Jones of Middletown also will be receiving a scholarship. Jones graduated from Middletown High School in 2012 and most recently from Shasta Community College where she has been working on the college farm and participating in the Ag & Natural Resources Committee, the Environmental Horticulture Club and the Shasta College collegiate team.

She will be attending Chico State University in the fall to complete her bachelor’s degree in plant science with an emphasis in crop management in order to become a licensed pest control advisor. Jones is the daughter of Michael and Karen Jones of Middletown.
 
With plans to attend Colorado State University in the fall, Rebecca Pachie of Middletown will be pursuing studies in the field of Agricultural Economics.

Pachie has won numerous honors and awards in high school rodeo, FFA and the National Student Leadership Conference. She has held offices of leadership in FFA, high school rodeo and with the Middletown Mock Trial Team.

Graduating as class salutatorian, her academic success and her personal determination to exceed at all endeavors will serve her well in her college career. Her parents are Wade and Patricia Pachie of Middletown.
 
Seevers, Jones and Pachie will receive recognition from LCFB at the upcoming annual meeting and dinner scheduled for July 17.

In addition, they will receive a certificate at their respective awards night’s celebrations.
