LAKEPORT, Calif. – The words of the Bard will once again be heard on the shores of Clear Lake this summer when Mendocino College and the Lake County Theatre Co. present the second annual “Shakespeare on the Lake.”
This year’s play, “Much Ado About Nothing,” will be presented under the stars in Lakeport’s Library Park beginning at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, July 29, and Sunday, July 30.
Following the highly successful inaugural show, “A Midsummer Night's Dream,” held in July 2016, this summer's production of the witty and comedic “Much Ado About Nothing” is sure to please.
Audience members will enjoy a beautiful summer evening, watch the sunset, and enjoy the talents of both Lake County Theatre Co. members and Mendocino College student actors.
Mendocino College faculty member, John Tomlinson, directs the show, and faculty member, Kevin Moore, provides production management.
Shakespeare at the Lake won the "Best New Idea" award and Director Tomlinson won the "Arts Award of the Year - Professional" earlier this year at the Stars of Lake County event.
The Lake County Friends of Mendocino College, an affiliate group of the Mendocino College Foundation, along with generous community sponsors, make this show available to the community free of charge.
Audience members should bring a blanket or chairs and food if they wish.
Beer and wine, as well as some food, will be available for purchase. There are many nearby restaurants for pre-show dining, and nearby lodging options for out-of-town visitors.
Contact the Mendocino College Lake Center at 707-263-4944 for more information.
