Monthly gathering in Kelseyville features mindfulness of scents

KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – Gayle Gura is this month's guest at the ongoing Companion Circles at A Positive Light Center for Spiritual Awakening, 6470 Kelsey Creek Dr, Kelseyville.

The public is invited to join the social gathering slated on Monday, July 17, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Gura is a professional educator and health coach in Lake County, as well as a wellness advocate for dōTERRA International.

"My work has shown me time and again what the scientific research now confirms with therapeutic grade essential oils and our health," noted Gura. "From deep relaxation to increased alertness, non-toxic plant based products throughout the ages have played a key role in our health and wellness."

She will be guiding participants through a variety of breath and mindfulness exploration exercises engaging the olfactory system with essential oils designed to optimize wakefulness.

Gura has been working with herbs, essential oils and plant-based diets for more than 20 years. Sometimes referred to as the “Green Goddess,” she assists individuals in meeting their unique health goals.

"Using aromatherapy combined with other natural techniques, I've successfully helped many people improve sleep patterns, achieve enhanced mental clarity and focus, maintain healthy weight, and balance emotions, hormones and brain chemistry," she explained.

Mindfulness is a popular health and wellness practice that invites one to purposefully pay kind, non-judgmental attention to their direct experience.

The scientifically supported approach helps reduce stress and stress-related illnesses, increase focus and attention, decrease incidences of and relapses with depression, reduce anxiety, reduce relapses in addiction, and aid in sleep and digestive disorders. It has been proven to increase well being, life satisfaction and happiness, as well as improve social relationships.

Companion Circles are monthly gatherings for those curious about or committed to a mindful practice and/or living intentionally and are hosted by JoAnn Saccato, MA, mindfulness teacher, life coach and author.

"One of the best supports we can give ourselves to strengthen and ensure our continued wellness is to come together in community on a regular basis," noted Saccato, author of “Companioning the Sacred Journey: A Guide to Creating a Compassionate Container for Your Spiritual Practice” and the forthcoming “Mindful and Intentional Living: A Path to Peace, Clarity, and Freedom.”

The events include a mindfulness exercise, question and answer period, social mingling and a guest presenter. Attendees are invited to wear comfortable clothing and bring a simple finger food to share. Tea and water is served.

There is a suggested donation of $10, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
