CLEARLAKE OAKS, Calif. – Lake County Republican Women, Federated, or LCRWF, met on Nov. 8 at the Orchard Shores Homeowner Association's clubhouse in Clearlake Oaks, where a lovely buffet lunch was served.

Lani Kane, Lake County Republican Central Committee acting chair, reported on the recent conferences she had attended.

Kane pointed out the importance of attending such conferences, the good will of attendees who could disagree with each other but still come together for the good of the party, the well-focused workshops so helpful to the local organizations on how to bring people of all ages together, empowering women, and just meeting other women who are concerned about what is happening to our state and country.

She encouraged members to attend the monthly Lake County Republican Central Committee Meetings where important issues of concern to all Californians also are discussed.

Associate Member James Jonas swore in the officers elected to serve for 2018-19 – President Stephanie Codling, Vice President Leona Butts, Treasurer Elizabeth Chase and Interim Secretary Jackie Ridgel.

Codling presented outgoing President Marcia Chauvin with the Past Presidents pin. Numerous gifts were presented commemorating her years of service to LCRWF and her losses in the recent fire.

Several members spoke briefly on various subjects. A special treat was hearing Elizabeth Paddock speak about her recent visit to President Ronald Reagan's 160-year-old adobe home and ranch near Santa Barbara.

Associate member Glenn Trumble's son, who resides in Alaska, spoke of the deplorable political situation in his state.

Leona Butts mentioned briefly her recent visit to Washington D.C. where she toured the White House and Capitol and other points of interest.

Chauvin told of her experience with the recent Sulphur fire and the loss of her home, which had been built by her father many years ago.

This meeting closed the 2017 year. LCRWF goes dark for December and January, although support of important issues never stops.

Plans are already under way for monthly meetings that resume on Feb. 14 where all Republicans, men and women, are welcome. Many men are associate members.

Another 2018 date to remember is March 10 when Judge Steven Bailey (Ret.) will be the featured speaker at the Ronald Reagan Day Dinner to be held at the Riviera in Kelseyville.

Judge Bailey was first elected to the California Superior Court in El Dorado County in 2008 and re-elected in 2014. He recently retired from the bench after more than eight years of public service to campaign for California Attorney General.

All Republican Women, Federated members work for a better America, following closely the issues of county, state and national government.

Anyone wishing information about joining LCRWF can submit a request to 707-994-3305 and you will be contacted.

Leona Butts is vice president and publicity chair of the Lake County Republican Women, Federated.
