LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – At a recent potluck picnic at Debra Heckert's Grey Heron Farm in Lakeport, the Clear Lake Trowel & Trellis Garden Club, a member of California Garden Clubs, Inc. celebrated another successful year of gardening and supporting civic and student activities in Lake County.

The new officers are President Debra Heckert, Vice President Dana Benjamin, Secretary Sue Stiles and Treasurer Linda Pyers.

“My theme is Healthy Gardening,” said Heckert. “We will continue to support our mission statement of gardening, civic beautification, conservation of our natural resources and encourage members to participate in local, district and state projects.”

Linda Waterstraat, Smokey Bear Poster coordinator, presented Sawyer Shucart her first place certificate for her Smokey Bear poster. Sawyer won first place in the state as well as the Pacific Region of Garden Clubs which covers seven states.

Leilani Carrell also won for her poster but was unable to attend the picnic.

The club meets the third Tuesday of the month from September to June.
