NORTH COAST, Calif. – Caltrans will begin a new paving construction project starting Monday, Aug. 17, on State Route 20 in the city of Willits, Mendocino County, from Holly Street to Monica Lane, also known as the “Miracle Mile” of South Main Street.

The work scope consists of removing the top 4 inches of asphalt in distressed areas and replacing new asphalt pavement. The project will continue for an eight-week duration.

The pavement work is scheduled to take place overnight between the hours of 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Minor work such as adjusting maintenance hole covers will occur during the day from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.

One-way traffic lanes in both northbound and southbound directions will remain open at all times.

Motorists can anticipate minimal traffic delays between Holly Street and Browns Corner at Beachtel Road.

At the southern section (less than a quarter-mile between Browns Corner and Monica Lane, expect controlled closures with flaggers. This section of work will only be performed at night, and motorists can anticipate 10-minute delays for about five nights. These dates will be updated in the weekly Caltrans District 1 Road Information Bulletin.

During night-time work, some side streets will be closed, and detours will be available.

All business access will remain open during construction.

All pedestrian access routes will remain functional, and temporary pedestrian access routes will be provided as needed.

Businesses owners will be provided with an updated schedule 72-hours in advance of any work taking place in front of their business.
