David Barlow Pearson
Dec. 29, 1944 – Oct. 25, 2017

David Barlow Pearson, “DOC” passed away peacefully in Fallon, Nev., on Oct. 25, 2017.

Born to Russell and Betty Pearson in San Francisco, he graduated from Lower Lake High School in Lower Lake, Calif., in 1962.

Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he dedicated 20 years of honorable service to our country.

In February of 1966, he married Sharon Ann McMillan. David and Sharon were married until her passing in 1989. Together they raised two beautiful daughters, Cathy and Tammy, traveling as a military family until his retirement from the Army.

In 1983 the Pearson family moved to Lake County, Calif., where David entered his second career as an educator and administrator. He taught drivers education, business math and automotive at Lower Lake High School before becoming vice principal.

During his career, he continued to advance his education by earning his Master’s in Education from St. Mary’s University and wanted to begin working towards his Ph.D.

In the 90s David met and married Teri Ditmars and along with her two sons became actively involved in the Boy Scouts of America.

Dave swore “the only camping I will ever do is the fifth floor of the Hilton” but soon wound up working at Camp Silverado, first as the medic and then as the maintenance director for many summers. Camp is where Dave earned the nickname “DOC” as he could fix anything and was always “on call.”

Dave left California to work in Nevada as an administrator and while there joined Elks Lodge No. 2239 becoming the Exalted Ruler from 2001-2002. He also spent time enjoying rides on his Harley trike with his friends from Nevada and Oregon.

David is preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Betty; the love of his life, wife Sharon; and his sisters Diane and Judy.

He is survived by Teri Pearson; brother, Russell Pearson; sisters, Linda Pearson and Laurie (John) Arnn; daughters, Cathy (Rich) Mathias and Tammy (Dexter Jr.) Serpa; his grandchildren, Stephanie Mathias, Steven (Halie) Mathias, Bailey Serpa and Madison Serpa; great-grandchildren, Brayden and Jaxson Mathias; as well as numerous extended family members and friends.

During his life, David Barlow Pearson “DOC” was many things. He was a son, brother, husband, father, grandpapa, racecar driver, race official, soldier, recruiter, veteran, educator, administrator, leader and a friend. He was a man of honor, respect, and love and will be missed tremendously.

He will be laid to rest at the Lower Lake Cemetery in Lake County, Calif., on Nov. 20 at 10 a.m. Military honors will be rendered by the US Army under the auspices of the Lake County Funeral Honors Team.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to Lower Lake High Alumni Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 799, Lower Lake, CA 95457 or Fallon Elks Lodge No. 2239, 93 W Center St, Fallon, NV 89406.
