CLEARLAKE, Calif. – St. Helena Family Health Center-Clearlake is expanding its services to include optometry provided by Dr. Wayne Ogata, OD, an experienced optometrist who has been providing comprehensive eye care for nearly three decades.

“I am excited to join the St. Helena Family Health Center and to begin helping patients see better,” said Dr. Ogata. “There is a lot of beauty in Lake County, and I want each and every patient to enjoy it fully.”

After working as a nurse at Loma Linda University Medical Center in Southern California, Dr. Ogata pursued his interest in optometry and attended the Southern California College of Optometry. 

He has practiced in retail and clinic settings and has operated a private practice in Vallejo since 1996. He enjoys volleyball, backpacking, aikido, skiing and photography.

Dr. Ogata will see patients at the St. Helena Family Health Center-Clearlake each Thursday and Friday. 

He offers comprehensive eye exams; prescriptions for glasses and contact lenses; surgical consultations for LASIK, cataracts and glaucoma; and hypertension and diabetes screenings. He sees patients of all ages, including children.

“Better vision means better quality of life,” said Dr. Ogata. “It’s important to be screened for common eye diseases and to evaluate your eyes as part of your overall health.”

St. Helena Hospital Clear Lake plans to add ophthalmology services later in 2017, which will expand its eye care services even further. Eye surgeries will be scheduled at the hospital in Clearlake with follow-up visits at the clinic. 

“We are looking forward to providing full eye care services in the southern part of Lake County,” said David Santos, St. Helena Hospital Clear Lake president and chief executive officer. “We are proud to welcome Dr. Ogata now and to expand services in the coming months as part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and preventive care to our friends and neighbors.”
