CLEARLAKE, Calif. – Police are investigating an attempted burglary and vandalism and a separate break-in that happened overnight at two Clearlake businesses.

Rent-A-Center, located at 14878 Olympic Drive, and Xsite Motorsports, 14883 Lakeshore Drive, were the targets, according to Sgt. Rodd Joseph of the Clearlake Police Department.

Joseph said an attempted burglary occurred at Rent-A-Center at about 11:30 p.m. Sunday.

Nothing was taken, but the business was vandalized, he said.

An hour and a half later, just after 1 a.m. Monday, Xsite Motorsports was broken into, with items taken, according to Joseph.

He said police have no leads so far, but the two incidents appear to be related.

“The MO appears to be the same,” he said. “It’s a window smash.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Officer Mike Ray, the lead investigator, at 707-994-8251.
