NICE, Calif. – The former Nice Frostie building provided a training location for the Northshore Fire Protection District Saturday morning.
Battalion Chief Mike Ciancio explained that the district had been notified that demolition was imminent and hurried to utilize the building.
As fire crews trained, former Nice Frostie owner Judy Swenson Thompson stopped by to observe the training. Swenson Thompson had owned and operated the business for 35 years.
The building is slated for demolition on Tuesday or Thursday of this week, Ciancio said.
The site will become the site for a new Dollar General store.
Dollar General Corp., based in Goodlettsville, Tenn., is planning the stores in Clearlake Oaks and Nice, company spokeswoman Jaclyn Dees confirmed to Lake County News in May.
