Mendocino College women’s soccer team advances in playoffs

UKIAH, Calif. – The Lady Eagles won their first playoff game against Lake Tahoe Community College on Saturday.

The game went without a score so the two teams competed in a penalty kick shoutout, where the Mendocino Eagles walked away with a win.

The Mendocino College women’s soccer team is 19-3 overall and is currently ranked 13th in the country according to the National Soccer Coach’s Association of America.

The team will now travel to to play the number two seed, Modesto Junior College, on Tuesday at 2 p.m.

“I am incredibly proud of this group of young women,” said Coach Shane Huff. “They truly embody the meaning of team spirit. They have worked hard all season long in both academics and athletics and it has paid off. We are all very excited to play in Tuesday’s game, this is a hardworking group that looks forward to a challenge. This group works hard, trains hard and plays hard and they take that spirit into games, academics, and our community. I’m honored to be their coach.”
