CLEARLAKE, Calif. – The two newly elected Clearlake City Council members will take their oaths of office this week.
The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, in the council chambers at Clearlake City Hall, 14050 Olympic Drive.
The first order of business for Thursday's meeting will be the acceptance of the November election results.
The council will then honor outgoing council members Joey Luiz and Jeri Spittler before taking a 15-minute recess.
Following the recess, new council members Russell Perdock and Bruno Sabatier, who were elected Nov. 4, will be sworn in.
Melissa Swanson, the city's clerk, was reelected on Nov. 4 and also will take her oath on Thursday.
The council will then appoint the mayor and vice mayor for 2015.
Among the other items of business, the council will discuss conceptual approval of the development of county-owned property located at 15837 18th Ave. for a veterans' housing project. The council also will consider waiving fees for any required amendments to the general plan or zoning designations.
In other business, the council will discuss a request to use a city-owned property at 14061 Lakeshore Drive for a warming center.
Other items on the Thursday agenda include consideration of a letter of support to the Board of Supervisors for the Koi Nation regarding a memorandum of understanding; an informational presentation by Ed Zander of the Konocti Unified School District about the HUB/Wellness Center at Lower Lake High School; review and consideration of an agreement between the city and successor agency to comply with the State Controller's Office asset review finding that $241,490 in loan interest should be repaid to the city; and discussion regarding the consistency of agreements the city has with various entities, including – but not limited to – Lake County Youth Services and the Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce.
Items on the consent agenda – considered to be noncontroversial and accepted as a slate with one vote – include warrant registers; the second reading of Ordinance No. 172-2014 relating to the 2013 speed zone study; minutes of the Nov. 13 council meeting; consideration of rejection of a claim by Mark Giambra for $675; and minutes of the Oct. 8 Lake County Vector Control Board meeting.
