LAKEPORT, Calif. – On Tuesday the Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the appointment of a Clearlake Oaks woman as the new District 3 representative on the Lake County Planning Commission.
Supervisor Jim Steele, who took office in January, brought to the board the proposed appointment of Gladys Rosehill.
Steele said he's known Rosehill a long time. She has a law degree and works as a mediator in the Lake County Superior Court.
Rosehill attended the Tuesday morning meeting and introduced herself to the board.
Board Chair Anthony Farrington asked Rosehill how long she has been in the county.
A former resident of the Bay Area and San Jose, Rosehill replied that she's owned property here for about 25 years, and moved to the county full-time in 1996 while studying for her law degree.
Her mediation role in the local courts covers small claims an unlawful detainer cases, she said.
Steele moved to approve Rosehill's appointment, with Supervisor Jim Comstock seconding and the board voting 5-0.
She'll now join commissioners Joseph Sullivan, District 1; Bob Malley, District 2; Don Deuchar, District 4; and Gil Schoux, District 5.
As a member of the planning commission, Rosehill will make decisions on land use matters and any other work delegated by the Board of Supervisors, for which the commission acts as an advisory board.
The commission usually meets on the second and fourth Thursday of each month in the board chambers on the first floor of the Lake County Courthouse, 255 N. Forbes St., Lakeport. Meetings are open to the public.
Rosehill succeeds Olga Martin Steele – Jim Steele's wife – who served as planning commissioner for former District 3 Supervisor Denise Rushing.
