Mayor helps school celebrate ‘Read Across America Day’

Mayor helps school celebrate ‘Read Across America Day’

CLEARLAKE, Calif. – Burns Valley School celebrated “Read Across America Day” on Friday, March 1.

Special guest Clearlake Mayor Jeri Spittler – complete with a colorful red and white “Cat in the Hat” hat – read to the children as part of the event, which celebrates Dr. Seuss's birthday and encourages reading.

Spittler read to classrooms in grades kindergarten through fifth grade.

After reading she gave them a class set of bookmarks and a book for their classroom library.

Students were excited to have ask questions about being the mayor and also to hear the story by a very beloved author.

For her contributions, Spittler reportedly got to keep the colorful hat.
