Meet retired park ranger Val Nixon at 8:30 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 8, at the Clear Lake State Park visitor center ramp for a guided nature walk in the park.
Through her years of service in the park, Nixon has intimate knowledge of the park. Her insight into the workings of the natural world gives those walking with her an even greater understanding of the importance of Lake County natural resources. With the unusual low lake level, the exposed shoreline may reveal more natural features than participants have seen previously.
Rain cancels the walk. There is no entrance fee to the park for participating in walks.
Walks are scheduled for the second and fourth Sunday of each month. The spring dates are February 22, March 8 and 22, and April 12. Guided walks will be featured as a part of the activities in the April 25-26 Wildflower Brunch and Heron Festival in the park.
Location: Clear Lake State Park is located at 5300 Soda Bay Road, Kelseyville.
