No CA school is revenue neutral anymore.

Old Fashioned is good in this case, if you are one who is frugal and thinks of kids first. Kellseyville has its share of struggles like all California schools/districts. Schools are allocated funds from both the State and Federal governments. It is hard when the State cuts funds to schools. Schools must then take out their "menu" and decide which items must go and which can stay. Kellseyville has chosen a "brilliant" path here by asking for donations of paper. The general public will type just what you have guest and want to support their cause. The truth is, K-Ville can use their allocated funds (the dramatically REDUCED ones) for various things, including paper. They have decided to go this fundraising route.
Typing of routes, was transportation mentioned in this article? I have not read it in a few days now. Which "Guest" posts these comments? Depending on who you are, this is a good line of thought. OR, this is a slippery slope that I won't climb again.
Either way, kids are losing out, no matter which way you type it. It is time for the general public to step up and support our kids. - guywithanopinion

Call me old fashioned, but I have a hard time seeing students begging paper and having to walk to school in the rain(transportation cuts). I heard that the k-ville district budget is actually revenue nuetral as compared to last year.
Where did the money go?

Ignoring the problem Coot.

Two things:

1-You are asserting that an elected official (newly elected as November is the month of change) has the ability to divert funds from a "fancy courthouse" project to send to schools? Ok. This is great news. I have not seen this ever happen as a registered voter or as a teacher in a California school. I will believe it when I see it. I actually want to shake the hand of the politician who actually could (if they actually were willing to try) pull this off. There are too many powers at work for your proposal to actually happen Jim. I am not familiar with the specifics of the courthouse funding. Was it voter related? Bond? Grant? I would be willing to argue that they (the funds) are from different "pots" and really CAN'T be moved (go with "pot" analogy as gov't monies stay in SPECIFIC categories and rarely get moved for another "pot").

2-Your statements are implying that the current set of elected officials (local, state, federal) are not doing an acceptable job and should be replaced. You imply that new blood will change things for the better. Your best point really is in NOT spending money right now and I completely agree. ALL politicians want a new court house, not just the current ones. In order to run a local, state, or federal election campaign, you need lots of $$. Maybe someday a some regular guy/gal will run and have a platform for every regular person out there... people who have a voice. Our country has forgotten the principles that this nation was founded upon.
Locally, I have met very positive people but have yet to see a community united for anything that actually benefits the community. I cringe at the negative nonsense I read on this site but I also enjoy the community minded interaction as well. I cannot comment to the courthouse project as I know little. I can safely say that many politicians used to be lawyers and big fancy courthouses sure are nice.
Where you are right, you are wrong. Spend money on kids and not courthouses! New politicians won't change a thing.
Dramatic leadership changes are needed and people need to step up. Who would you have us vote for in November? - guywithanopinion

But it does have a bearing

Those are our tax dollars; where they are spent is left to politicians who seem not to share our priorities. Vote them out in November...send a message that many things, especially schools, are much more important than constructing edifices. Put simply, a family on a limited budget must first feed and clothe their children, not squander money on building a new home; why should it be different for politicians? Why? Simply because they are spending someone else's money (ours), not their own money.

Please DO remember this in November and vote yes for all measures that generate monies for our schools! What a shame that schools have to fund raise for items such as paper, pencils, and other basic supplies.
The "millons of $$" for "fancy courthouses" really has no bearing however on state and federal budgeting for schools. - guywithanopinion
