NORTH COAST, Calif. – A man who was the focus of an extensive search near Lake Sonoma in Sonoma County on Sunday has been found alive and well.
Moosa Sulman, 28, of San Francisco was located at 5:30 p.m. by the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Off Road Motorcycle Unit.
Sonoma County Sheriff’s officials said Sulman was found walking up a trail approximately one mile from a residence on Rockpile Road where he had attended a wedding Saturday night.
The Sonoma Sheriff's Helicopter Unit, Search and Rescue, Sheriff's Off Road Motorcycle Unit and the Boating Unit had been searching since earlier in the day in the 15000 block of Rockpile Road, as Lake County News has reported.
At about 3 a.m. he and several others had gone for a walk on one of the area’s trails, and he stopped to rest because he didn’t feel well, officials said.
The others on the walk had continued back to the house without him. When they couldn’t find him at about 9 a.m. Sunday, they filed a missing persons report and the search began, sheriff’s officials said.
When he was found early Sunday evening, Moosa said that he went to sleep and was awakened by the noise of the helicopter, according to the report.
The Sonoma County Sheriff's Office helicopter landed, picked up Moosa and transported him back to the residence on Rockpile Road, officials said.
