MIDDLETOWN, Calif. – A Sunday night fire destroyed a home in Middletown.
The fire burned a 1,000-square-foot residence located on Rancheria Road on the Middletown Rancheria, according to Cal Fire Battalion Chief Greg Bertelli.
Bertelli said South Lake County Fire and Cal Fire responded to the call, which came in at approximately 9:16 p.m.
“It was fully involved by the time we got there,” he said.
One person was inside the home when the fire broke out, but Bertelli said the man got out safely and was checked out by firefighters.
Both the home's occupant and his dog were judged to be OK and released at the scene, Bertelli said.
The home was a complete loss, according to Bertelli.
He said firefighters remained on scene for several hours, conducting mop up.
As for what started the fire, “We’re not sure right now,” said Bertelli. “We’re still eliminating causes.”
