LAKEPORT, Calif. – A late Thursday night crash outside of Lakeport resulted in a small fire, a power outage and one person being flown to an out-of-county hospital.
The crash was first reported just before 11:45 p.m. in the 2900 block of Soda Bay Road near Blower Road, according to the California Highway Patrol and radio reports.
Lakeport Fire and Kelseyville Fire units responded, arriving at the scene where they reported finding a single vehicle into a power pole with lines down, a destroyed road sign, a small vegetation fire nearby and a person trapped inside the vehicle.
The small fire, measuring about 50 feet by 50 feet in a nearby field, was quickly extinguished and firefighters turned their focus to extracting the vehicle's occupant, according to radio reports.
Firefighters transported the patient to Lampson Field, where a REACH air ambulance picked the person up and flew to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital shortly before 12:30 a.m. Friday.
Pacific Gas and Electric reported that the crash initially knocked out power to approximately 1,805 customers.
Most of those people had their power restored within a few hours, with more than 100 more expected to have power back on by 8 a.m. Friday, PG&E said.
