CLEARLAKE, Calif. – The Clearlake Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating the man believed to be responsible for a rape in the city this spring.
Michael Lamar, 25, a convicted sex offender, has been identified as the suspect in a sexual assault that occurred in April at the Best Western El Grande Inn, police said.
A $1 million bail warrant for Lamar's arrest has been issued by the Lake County Superior Court for numerous sexual assault charges, kidnapping and other associated crimes, the Clearlake Police Department said.
Police said Lamar is a registered sex offender with no address due to the fact he is transient.
Lamar is described as a black male adult, 5 feet 7 inches tall and 160 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
Police said they will release a photo of Lamar and a more detailed report on the case on Thursday.
In the meantime, the Clearlake Police Department is requesting assistance of the public in locating Lamar.
If located, please contact the Clearlake Police Department at 707-994-8251 or your local law enforcement agency.
