Fundraiser to benefit Penny Lane to be held Oct. 20

LAKEPORT, Calif. – Local businesses and community members are rallying together to help a family that lost its business in a fire last month.

On Saturday, Oct. 20, the Clearlake Club will host a fundraiser barbecue dinner and raffle for the owners of the Penny Lane Emporium, which was destroyed in a fire on Sept. 21.

The event starts at 3 p.m., with the barbecue dinner at 6 p.m. and raffle prize drawings at 7 p.m.

Proceeds will help Deborah Bevington and her two daughters, Charity Newfield and Shawnee Valencia, reopen the doors.

Penny Lane also will donate 10 percent of all monies raised to Cal Fire for all their hard work and dedication in fighting fires.

Organizers are looking for donations of food, paper products and raffle prizes.

For the barbecue dinner, they are seeking meat and/or chicken (to feed 160 people), macaroni/potato salad, green salad, beans, rolls and deserts.

For the raffle, they are asking for prizes, gift certificates for merchandise or services. A 50-50 raffle also will also be held with one half the proceeds going to Penny Lane.

In addition, the Clearlake Club will accept cash donations that will go directly to Penny Lane. Checks can be made out to Penny Lane.

The Clearlake Club is located at 210 N. Main St. in Lakeport.

For more information or to donate contact the Clearlake Club at 707-263-6414 or Lorna Cruz Higdon at 707-349-6000.
