LAKEPORT, Calif. – Bob Chalk, candidate for the Lake County sheriff-coroner, was on hand April 28 at a meet and greet held at the Lakeport Yacht Club.

The nice weather drew in residents from all over the county, and the message delivered held them there.

Chalk focused on public safety, and the need for agencies to work together to protect and defend the people they are sworn to serve.

When Chalk served as the chief of police in Clearlake, interagency cooperation was always a priority.

Chalk received a commendation by the California attorney general for the drastic reduction of crime in the city of Clearlake under his leadership as chief of police. He also able to increase the number of officers on the street, without increasing his budget.

He also acknowledged that different areas have unique issues, and offered positive solutions to the problems of each community, and the county as a whole.

He shared experiences from his 32 years in law enforcement to highlight ideas on how to improve this necessary and vital agency.
