‘Camp Noah’ seeks to help child survivors of Valley, Clayton fires

MIDDLETOWN, Calif. – Middletown Community United Methodist Church is preparing to host “Camp Noah,” a camp for first through sixth graders from July 31 to Aug. 4.

The free camp will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The church, in partnership with Lutheran Social Services of Minnesota and several local agencies, is bringing Camp Noah back for the children who survived the Clayton and Valley fires.

During Camp Noah, a team of certified camp staff accompanies campers through an intentional process that enables the children to process their disaster and/or trauma experiences and gives them the space and time necessary to tell their stories and build resiliency skills.

Campers participate in small groups, large group time (including music, skits and puppet shows), crafts and recreation time.

The camp will provide breakfast, lunch, and snacks, and can assist with transportation if needed.

To register, visit www.campnoah.org.

If you would like to volunteer, please contact Pastor Melissa Hurley at 815-535-7075. For more information about the camp, call Case Management Coordinator Jacqui Maxman at 707-496-5878.
