LAKEPORT, Calif. – A new outdoor recreation event is debuting in April in honor of a deputy who died in the line of duty last year.
The “Rummy Skull Crusher” will take place at the Lakeport Unified School District Campus, 350 Lange St., from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, April 21.
The event will honor Deputy Rob Rumfelt, who died in August. Organizer Carina Martinez-Lopez describes him as “a coach, friend, husband, father, Officer, Marine, son, mentor, and a definite Hero.”
The Rummy Skull Crusher is going to be an obstacle course mud run. It promises to be mentally and physically challenging, with everything ranging from incline army crawls to the Big Bertha Hill.
All donations and funds will go toward a memorial in Rumfelt's name that will be placed at Clear Lake High School and toward the California Highway Patrol’s Explorer Post 151.
For more information or to sign up visit the event’s Eventbrite page.
