SACRAMENTO – Motorists navigating the maze of Sacramento area freeways now have a new tool to help keep them on the right track.

As part of two Senate Bill 1-funded striping projects in Sacramento, 65 shield pavement markings were installed on the roadway to help motorists know which lane to be in when merging from one freeway to another.

In this Caltrans News Flash, they demonstrate how the shield decals were placed like puzzle pieces on the freeway, see what the finished product looks like, and speak to motorists on how they like the navigational guides.

This News Flash is the 185th in a series of videos highlighting Caltrans’ activities that present the wide-ranging and critical work that Caltrans does to enhance California’s economy and livability.
