LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Since 1972, the Soroptimist International of Clear Lake Club has been giving a hand up to women and girls through the Live Your Dream Program.

Last year, two applicants received cash awards totaling $5,000.

“Live Your Dream Awards assist women providing the primary source of financial support for their families by giving them the resources to continue their educational or vocational training,” said President Tina Scott. “We extended the application deadline from Nov. 15 to Dec. 15 to allow applicants more time due to the disruption many low income families faced during the lengthy power shutoffs that recently occurred.”

Successful applicants at the club level move on to region-level competition for additional cash awards of $3,000 and $5,000 and finalists move on to the international-level competition for $10,000 awards.

To be eligible, applicants must be the primary financial support for their families including children, spouse, partner, siblings and/or parents; have a financial need; and be enrolled or accepted to a vocational/skills training program or an undergraduate degree program.
