leeehling

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Lee Walter Ehling was born in San Francisco on March 9, 1943, and passed away in his sleep on Jan. 3, 2014.

He was in the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam and was honorably discharged with medals and commendations.

Lee was a marine electrician and worked on ships all around the world for 20 years.

The last 15 years of his career he worked for Exxon as an electrical contractor. He was called in as a "specialist" by Jack King of Exxon to investigate an explosion on the Exxon Philadelphia in Ana Cortez, Washington. Lee rode the disabled ship to Portland, Oregon to continue the investigation.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Linda, and his four cats that he dearly loved; his siblings, Helene (Dan) Henderson, Pat Dodson and Al Ehling; stepchildren, John Jackson, Jefferey (Mena) Stevens and Leslie Freund; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

Lee was an animal lover, a very patient man, a true loving, gentle man with a great sense of humor. Everyone who met Lee liked him.

His wife has lost the love of her life, he will be dearly missed.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Donations in his honor may be made to Lake County Animal Care and Control in Lakeport.
