Carlé Chronicle: Academy program does great things

carleheader

The Carlé students and staff would like to wish teachers Alan and Angie Siegel a happy 25th wedding anniversary on March 29. Everybody hopes that they have many more good years together ahead of them.

Student Desiree Bauer, with help from Daniel Hernandez and Leticia Bowman, finished producing media plaques for the LLHS Health and Human Services Academy. Bauer has made 75 plaques.

Every year for the past five or so the academy at Lower Lake High School commissions Siegel's media class to make their reward plaques.

The plaques are rewards for academy students who earn certain levels, much like the levels at Carlé High School.

The academy program is one of the most successful programs at the high school and the media class is always grateful for their business.

For people who might not know what the academy is, it is a wonderful career based program at the high school.

They have specified career pathways that focus on law enforcement, fire science, health services and careers with children.

They help students get experience and knowledge in the career of their choice by setting up job
shadows, internships, field trips and bringing in guest speakers. This program does great things for all the students involved.

On March 22,  students Corrisa Schonderwoerd and Erica Woods presented their phenomenal senior portfolios to family and staff.

On March 23 Carlé students volunteered at Tatonka  and helped out with a mini golf tournament they were sponsoring.

The tournament was held as a way to christen the newly fixed mini golf course. They used 18 students to help out at every hole, and it was a wonderful time for all involved.

Siegel's media class has recently supported 3 students at Carlé who are doing parkour, or free running.

The students have currently made key chains, dog tags and posters to get the word out. The parkour isnt being done at Carlé but they are happy to support them.

The parkour group is composed of Lance Thurston, Joe Sarro and Kyle Scott. Next up for this group and the school as a whole is a design your own flag contest sponsored by the media class.

Jade Fox is a student at Carlé Continuation High School in Lower Lake, Calif.
