LAKEPORT – Are you concerned about your current state of health? Want to make a change but don’t know how or where to start? Do you want to grow in your knowledge of how to stay well? Are you curious about the wellness trend in health care and if any of it can actually help create a healthier you?

Sutter Lakeside Hospital and Center for Health’s Wellness Center is hosting the next afternoon and evening sessions of Create Your Health (formerly Wellness University).

The evening program meets every other Wednesday night, beginning Feb. 4 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The afternoon program kicks off on Friday, Feb. 6, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.; meeting once a month for four hours.

The program is co-facilitated by Leslie Lovejoy, RN, Ph.D and Matt McQuaid, DPM and will be working through the wellness workbook, provided to each participant, co-authored by Lovejoy and former Sutter Lakeside CEO Kelly Mather, “The Five Keys to Wellness: The Journey towards Optimal Health and Well-Being.”

In the education portion of the meetings, participants will learn about each of the “5 Keys to Wellness” and practice powerful, yet simple ways to change your health and life for the better. In a small group environment students will receive support and learning reinforcement while gaining valuable insight from each other.

Attendees will take a Health Risk Assessment and general wellness inventory to assess their current state of mental, emotional, and physical well-being. A personal coaching session helps participants identify improvement goals. Outside of class time, participants may use the fitness center to improve physical health, and take mindful movement classes, such as yoga, Pilates or Tai Chi to help reduce stress, increase flexibility and strength, and achieve inner balance.
