Holy Week begins at Kelseyville United Methodist Church March 29

KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – Kelseyville United Methodist Church's Holy Week services will begin with its Palm Sunday service on March 29.

The service begins at 9 a.m. at the church, 3810 Main St.

Rev. Claude Dunn offers the message “Sunday’s Comin’!”

Ecumenical prayers will be lifted for China, Hong Kong, Macua and prayers for the Middle East and the United States.

The first lesson comes from Isaiah 50:4-9a with the second lesson from Mark 11: 1-11.

On April 2 Kelseyville United Methodist will hold a Maundy Thursday service at 6 p.m. in the sanctuary.

This night is traditionally known as that of the betrayal and  the “Last Supper” and ending of Lent. The service will include communion, foot and hand washing led by Pastor Voris Brumfield.

April 3 is Good Friday. Pastor Voris Brumfield and seven other pastors will participate in a noon service in Lakeport at Lake County Bible Fellowship, 727 N. Forbes St.

On Holy Saturday, April 4, church members are asked to meditate on the coming resurrection and examine where in their lives they need to be transformed.

On April 5, everyone is invited to join Kelseyville United Methodist Church for the 7 a.m. Easter sunrise service, held at the Kelseyville County Park at 5270 State St. Rev. Dunn will offer the message.

Though there will be seating, bringing cushions could offer comfort. Also attendees are reminded to dress in layers.

The 9 a.m. Easter service will be held in the Kelseyville United Methodist Church sanctuary. Attendees may bring fresh flowers to adorn the cross which has been draped in black since Friday.

Pastor Brumfield will offer communion and all who wish to rededicate their lives to Christ may affirm with self baptism.

At 10:15 a.m. a potluck Easter Sunday brunch will be served featuring a variety of quiches and fresh fruit.

There are actually seven Sundays in Easter which ends with Ascension Sunday, concluding the 40 days Christ appeared to his followers after his resurrection.
