LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Board of Supervisors is set to hold a final vote on joining the county to a petition to withdraw from the state, and also will host a swearing-in for a new deputy sheriff.
The board will meet beginning at 9 a.m. Tuesday, March 3, in the board chambers on the first floor of the Lake County Courthouse, 255 N. Forbes St., Lakeport.

At 9:06 a.m., Sheriff Brian Martin will administer the oath of office to a newly hired deputy sheriff.
At 9:15 a.m., the board will hold the second vote regarding the request from the supporters of the State of Jefferson for Lake County to withdraw from California and join their effort to form a 51st state that would include a number of Northern California and Southern Oregon counties.
At its Feb. 17 meeting, the board voted 3-2 in the initial consideration of the matter.
Other timed items for Tuesday include the presentation of a proclamation designating the month of March 2015 as Meals on Wheels Month in Lake County at 9:10 a.m., followed at 9:11 a.m. by a review and status update of animal shelter hours and consideration of Lake County Animal Care and Control's request to continue reduced hours to the public.
