LAKEPORT, Calif. – The city of Lakeport has begun the recruitment process for community members to serve on a new citizens’ advisory committee for Measure Z.
On Nov. 8, Lakeport residents voted to approve Measure Z adopting an ordinance enacting a 1-percent increase to the local sales and use tax.
The ordinance calls for an independent citizens’ advisory committee to meet publicly to review all revenues and expenditures of the transactions and use tax and make recommendations to the Lakeport City Council regarding those expenditures.
The city of Lakeport is accepting applications for five members of the Measure Z Advisory Committee to be appointed to terms of not more than four years by the city council.
Qualified applicants must be residents of the city of Lakeport.
Beginning in April, the committee will meet quarterly in the city council chambers at Lakeport City Hall, 225 Park St. Meetings will take place during business hours.
Membership on this committee is voluntary.
Applications will be accepted until 5 p.m. Thursday, March 16, and appointments will be scheduled for the Lakeport City Council meeting of Tuesday, March 21.
