LAKEPORT, Calif. – On Friday afternoon, the city of Lakeport took action to close additional streets and facilities due to Clear Lake’s flood conditions.
The Lakeport Public Works Department said that on Friday it had closed Lakeshore Boulevard between Lange Street and Giselman Street.
A detour for southbound traffic is on Lange Street to Giselman Street, while northbound traffic is being detoured onto Giselman Street and then to Lange Street, according to city officials.
The city had closed Library Park on Thursday afternoon, and on Friday also closed the Third, Fourth and Fifth Street parking lots at Library Park. The closure starts at the entrance of the Fourth and Fifth street lots and extends to the lake.
The parking for Park Place restaurant will remain open, the city said.
City officials said all city boat launches remain closed, as do several city streets closed earlier this week, including Esplanade Street, K Street, Konocti Avenue, Lupoyoma Avenue, Helena Avenue, Lily Cove Avenue and E Street. All of those streets are closed from South Main Street to Esplanade Street.
Shortly after 3 p.m., Clear Lake’s level was at 9.65 feet Rumsey. Flood stage is at 9 feet Rumsey. The lake’s level isn’t expected to start receding until next week.
