CLEARLAKE, Calif. – More than 70 people attended the ribbon cutting celebrating the completion of the new visitors center and Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce headquarters building on Saturday, June 10.
The building is located on the shore of Clear Lake at 14295 Lakeshore Drive.
Mayor Russ Perdock and board members of both the Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce and the Lake County Chamber of Commerce were there along with public officials, volunteers and interested community members.
The county of Lake contributed $100,000 to the rehabilitation of the building and the city of Clearlake has provided additional funding and personnel to work on the rehabilitation.
Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce President Denise Loustalot, and Mayor Russ Perdock were both extremely pleased with the results of the rehab as well and had nothing but praise for the community members who put in a tremendous amount of time on this project.
“Mike Vandiver was really the driver on this project,” said Mayor Perdock, a comment echoed by Loustalot.
Loustalot gave a brief history of the building before cutting the ribbon to officially open the visitors center.
“The visitors center is going to be one of the jewels of the city, not so much because it is a beautiful building, which it is, but because of the love that the community put into making it such a beautiful building. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this project,” said City Manager Greg Folsom.
There will be another opportunity to enjoy an event at the building on Saturday, June 24, when the Clear Lake Chamber hosts its annual luau event. Tickets are available at the chamber office or from chamber board members.
