Lakeport Police investigate report of suspect allegedly following student

LAKEPORT, Calif. – Police are investigating a report from a local student who said a male subject followed her on her way to school Friday morning.

Lakeport Police Sgt. Kevin Odom reported that the eighth grader at Terrace Middle School contacted  School Resource Officer Stephanie Green shortly after 8 a.m. Friday to report that she was possibly followed by a suspicious person while she was walking to school at around 7:40 a.m.

The student reported she walked to school from the 800 block of 16th Street, and when she reached the area of what police believe was in the vicinity of High Street she said she noticed the suspicious male walking in the same direction on the opposite side of the street, Odom reported.

The girl said said the male subject continuously stared at her while walking in the same direction at a slow pace, according to Odom's report.

After several blocks, the eighth grader said she was picked up by a friend and got a ride the rest of the way to school and did not see where the subject went, Odom said.

The student described the suspicious person as a white male, 30 to 40 years old, approximately 6 feet tall with a thin build and short, dirty bond hair. He was wearing a long sleeve charcoal colored shirt, beige pants, possibly shoeless and had a dirty appearance, Odom reported.

Anyone with information about the Friday incident should contact Officer Stephanie Green, who is investigating the incident, at the Lakeport Police Department, 707-263-5491.

In January 2011 Lakeport Police had reported a female juvenile said she was followed by a male subject in his 30s in the 2200 block of Green Street, as Lake County News has reported.
