KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – The "Season of Sparkle,” sponsored by the Konocti Lioness Club, was held Saturday, Dec. 8, at Boatique winery with 130 guests in attendance.

A delicious lunch was prepared by Lakeview Market and “Fashions from Around the Clearlake” were by Lisa’s of Clearlake, Rustic Boutique in Hidden Valley, Lisa’s Hallmark in Lakeport and Kelseyville Hardware.

This annual event is the organization’s major fundraiser for the many community projects sponsored by the club.

More than 50 fabulous baskets for raffle filled to the brim, and silent and live auction times were made possible from contributions from generous local businesses and club members.

The Konocti Lioness Club focuses on supporting at-risk Lake County youth. In 2018, the Club funded two elementary schools with $1,200 each to enrich their libraries, $10,500 in scholarships were awarded to high school seniors and a donation of $1,000 was made to “Totes for Teens.”

Additionally, the Club donated $1,000 for the Hospice Services of Lake County children's bereavement program and the “Safe House” received a donation of $750 last year.

The club also supported a Kelseyville Little League team and the Special Olympics Polar Plunge again this year.

In addition to the financial contributions addressing many local needs, Konocti Lioness members sponsor and volunteer with two significant community projects. Members visit school locations throughout the year in the county testing the eyesight of students using the Lions International's Spot Camera, which detects abnormalities in their vision.

Annually, more than 1,000 students in grades kindergarten, second, fifth and eighth grades are tested which is instrumental in impacting their ability to succeed. Konocti Lioness member are proud to sponsor Camp Discovery a day camp for children at the Clearlake State park who might not otherwise have an opportunity to have the "Camp Experience" extraordinary.

Up to 100 kids rotate through a number of games, crafts, races, soccer, and learn about nutrition and diabetes. After a morning of outdoor activities, participants receive a healthy lunch. In addition to club members many community organizations make this event a success including local Girl & Boy Scout troops, the Leo Club and local high school students.

A big thank you to the many community sponsors for supporting the event and members of the Clear Lake High School Leadership club who served meals during the event.

The Konocti Lioness Club is a nonprofit membership organization dedicated to supporting Lake County children and families, while providing social opportunities and fellowship for members.

The club meets at noon on the third Thursday of the month at the Konocti Hills Restaurant located at 10200 Fairway Drive in Kelseyville. Guests are welcome.
