CLEARLAKE OAKS, Calif. – An early morning fire in Spring Valley destroyed a structure and burned a small amount of nearby vegetation.
Firefighters were dispatched to the fire on New Long Valley Road at Smith Lane shortly after 2 a.m. Monday, according to radio reports.
Reports from the scene stated that a residence was fully involved, the fire was spreading into nearby wildland and power lines were down.
Fire personnel arriving at the scene reported finding the structure three quarters of the way destroyed.
Forward movement on the wildland fire was stopped just before 3 a.m., with the fire contained within the hour and a small amount of vegetation burned, based on radio and witness reports.
Northshore Fire, Cal Fire and Lake County Fire sent resources – including engines, water tenders and hand crews – to the incident, according to witnesses.
It was not immediately clear early Monday if the fire was linked to lightning strikes seen around the area overnight.
