Museums of Lake County to open exhibit on sports and recreation

LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Museums of Lake County have announced their newest exhibit, “The Way We Played: Sports and Recreation in Lake County,” opening Saturday, April 6, for the general public with an opening reception the evening of Friday, April 5.
The reception will preview the exhibit, from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 5, and tickets are $10 with a free beverage ticket.
Hosted by the Friends of the Lake County Museum reception admission is free for current members of the Friends of the Lake County Museum.
Light refreshments will be served.
The exhibit, which will continue through Aug. 9, will cover Lake County’s long history as a sports and recreational destination for visitors and locals alike.
Highlights include indigenous stick dice games, the California cricket craze and watersports on the lake.
Visitors will have a chance to play the stick dice game and view vintage footage of some of the amazing watersports on the lake.
This is a family friendly exhibit aimed at all audiences.
The Courthouse Museum is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m., with a suggested $4 donation for adults, $3 students and seniors and $2 for children.
