LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – The Lake Area Planning Council is planning to hold virtual meetings this month and next to update the community on the new requirements for analyzing transportation projects.
The meetings will be held on Friday, Aug. 21, from 2 to 3:30 p.m., and Thursday, Sept. 3, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Both meetings will be hosted at this Zoom link. The meeting ID is 938 639 0618; the passcode is 973760.
Lake APC is working with the county of Lake and the cities of Clearlake and Lakeport to implement changes to how transportation impacts on the environment are evaluated under the California Environmental Quality Act, or CEQA.
Senate Bill 743, signed by Gov. Jerry Brown in 2013, required the state to change how transportation impacts on the environment are evaluated under CEQA.
The intent of this legislation was to remove barriers to infill development, public transportation projects, and projects that increase walking and biking.
This legislation is changing the measurement of transportation impacts under CEQA from the level of service to vehicle miles traveled. This change will affect how new development projects and land use plans are analyzed.
Lake APC will hold the two virtual public meetings to explain the new requirements and the changes that are proposed to transportation analysis under CEQA.
The community is invited to attend either of the public meetings on Aug. 21 or Sept. 3.
