LAKE COUNTY, Calif. — The California Highway Patrol said a pregnant Kelseyville woman and her unborn child died along with the wrong-way driver who hit them head-on in a Sunday night crash on Highway 29.
The wreck killed Nicole Danielle Parrott, 38, of Kelseyville; Parrott’s unborn child, Axel Wittman; and Jesse Andrew Maldnado, 34, who had addresses in Lakeport and Lucerne, according to reports from the CHP’s Clear Lake Area Office and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
Also injured in the crash were Wade E. Wittman, 41, of Kelseyville and a 16-year-old male, both of whom had been riding with Parrott in her vehicle.
The CHP said the wreck occurred at 8:05 p.m. Sunday on Highway 29 south of Park Way in the north Lakeport area.
Maldonado was driving a 2019 Cadillac XTS the wrong way, southbound on Highway 29, in the northbound No. 1 lane, south of the Park Way overpass, the CHP said.
The CHP said Parrott was driving a 2019 Nissan northbound on SR-29, in the northbound No. 1 lane, approaching the Cadillac.
Maldonado’s Cadillac collided head-on with Parrott’s Nissan, and Parrott was ejected from her vehicle, according to the report.
Parrott, her unborn child and Maldonado all died at the scene, the CHP said.
Neither Parrott nor Maldonado were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, the report said.
The CHP said Wittman and the teenage boy were both wearing their seat belts. Wittman suffered major injuries and the teen had minor injuries, and both were transported by ambulance to Sutter Lakeside Hospital.
The CHP said the crash remains under investigation.
