LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – The Museums of Lake County are hosting a showing of the collection of Nick Hyde’s most famous works through Jan. 6.

This showing of his work is so large that it encompasses three museums in Lake County.

The recommended “self guided tour” begins at the Courthouse Museum, 255 N. Main St. in Lakeport.

From there, you will travel to the Lower Lake Schoolhouse Museum, located at 16435 Main St., Lower Lake.

The final stop is in Middletown at the Gibson Museum, 21267 Calistoga Road.

Hyde is a prolific artist who started painting in the mid-sixties producing beautifully detailed, highly surrealistic images such as “Estate of Man”, “Abraxis” and “Beth Ann”. He then made his way into gorgeous landscapes including his works, “The Bridge” and “Golden.”

“I began painting in San Francisco when the New Age Era was just beginning to bloom (1967), when the possibilities were endless, boundaries were boundless - what a time to paint without questioning the whys,” Hyde said.
