Mendocino College Symphonic Band to perform free concert Dec. 11

UKIAH, Calif. – The Mendocino College Symphonic Band invites you to its free performance, “Music from Across the Globe,” on Tuesday, Dec. 11, at 7:30 p.m. in the Mendocino College Center Theatre at the Ukiah campus.

The Mendocino College Symphonic Band celebrates the tapestry of music from across America, including works by Tito Puente, Aguirre Agustin Lara, Samuel Barber and Aaron Copland.

The ensemble is made up of approximately 35 Mendocino College students playing wind, brass and percussion instruments and will be led by Dr. Phillip Lenberg who joined the Mendocino College faculty just this year.

Prior to Mendocino College, Dr. Lenberg served as assistant conductor for the Las Vegas Philharmonic and the University of Nevada Las Vegas.

His performing career has taken him to Europe, Canada and throughout North America.

As an educator Dr. Lenberg has taught classes including orchestra, band, conducting, music theory, music history, and studio guitar and piano in San Francisco, Las Vegas, New York and Toronto.

As a composer he has had works performed by Left Coast Ensemble, Da Capo Chamber Players and the California Orchestra Director's Association.

The Mendocino College Ukiah campus is located at 1000 Hensley Creek Road, Ukiah.
