LAKEPORT, Calif. – Lake County Library patrons who want to use the library’s Overdrive electronic book download service will have a chance to learn more about it on Wednesday, Oct. 3.

The workshop will take place beginning at 6 p.m. at Lakeport Library, 1425 N. High St.

Patrons are invited to bring their e-reader devices to the library and talk with library technician Christopher Veach about the eBook program.

Veach will conduct a Q&A session where patrons can learn to navigate in Overdrive, check out books and request books. For more information contact Veach at 707-263-8817, Extension 17103.

The library’s much-anticipated eBook loan program went live on Sept. 6 and patrons began using it immediately.

To check out and request e-books, patrons go to the Lake County Library Web site at http://library.co.lake.ca.us and click on the “Download eBooks” link.

Each patron may have five books checked out simultaneously and have a maximum of five requests. Books remain on the e-reader until the due date, when they vanish.

Overdrive is free but patrons must be library card holders to participate.

Adults must present identification and proof of their mailing address to get library cards, and parents must do the same to get cards for children under 18.
