LOWER LAKE, Calif. – Highly popular local nature photographers Lyle and Deanna Madeson will present a slide show on the birds of Iceland on Thursday, March 20, at the Redbud Audubon Society program meeting.
The meeting starts at 7 p.m. at the Lower Lake Schoolhouse Museum, 16435 Main St., Lower Lake.
The Madesons will show and discuss not only the birds of Iceland, but the fantastic scenery they experienced in the Land of Fire and Ice.
Last June they set out on a 1500 mile self-guided journey that took them completely around this country of 600,000 inhabitants.
The Madesons have chosen photographs that represent their favorite highlights.
Among them will be the world famous Latrabjarg cliffs that are six miles long and rise 1,500 feet above the ocean.
What is so special about the cliffs are the millions of birds that breed there in June and July. Among the birds represented are puffins, Northern Gannetts, guillemots, and razorbills.
Photos also will be shown of the fantastic waterfalls and streams as well as glaciers, including Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon and its icebergs.
The public is warmly invited to this program. Refreshments will be served at 7 p.m. with the program starting at 7:30 p.m.
