Old Bay Bridge living on as art throughout California

NORTHERN CALIFORNIA – In this Caltrans News Flash, learn about how steel from the old Bay Bridge east span is being transformed into works of art.

Through the Bay Bridge Steel Program, more than 450 tons of recycled steel has been awarded to artists for restoration and transformation into new visual art pieces that will be viewed by the public throughout California.

The program supports the department’s goal of sustainability and shares the history of the old east span.
